About MSAC
The McMaster Sustainability Advisory Council (MSAC) is responsible for promoting and advocating for the advancement of sustainability at McMaster.
MSAC operates on the principle that sustainability is a key aspect of the McMaster identity. This principle includes:
- Encouraging fully integrated planning between administrative and academic leadership to adopt a “One University” approach for the advancement of sustainability;
- Working to elevate McMaster’s position as a global leader in addressing climate change;
- Leveraging the McMaster campus as a living laboratory for sustainability research, education, and impact;
- Working with students as partners in the sustainability learning process who, as the core of our community, should each receive a holistic, transformational, and personalized student experience;
- Acting as agents of change by engaging in collaboration and partnerships at the local, national, Indigenous, and global levels; and
- Advancing the principles of community engagement as the foundation for campus-community partnerships

Meetings
MSAC meets every month during the academic year (September to April), and usually takes a break during the summer months. This does not mean the group stops working; the summer is a great time for its members to plan for and start implementing innovative ideas once the student population is back in force in September.
Below you can find the meeting agenda (with minutes) for all meetings held so far in 2023.
