Environment
To be able to provide these services while working towards low carbon operations, we have composed a Net Zero Carbon Roadmap, outlining our plans to achieve these low carbon goals without sacrificing the function or comfort of our buildings. We also encourage building occupants to use energy mindfully, turning off appliances when not in use.
Operational Excellence in Utilities
Nuclear Energy Learn More
McMaster uniquely gets to call itself home to our very own nuclear reactor. Nuclear power is becoming increasingly important to the future of sustainable energy production, which is why we are proud to be able to use our reactor for research and energy.
Energy Management Learn More
Besides investigating new technologies for carbon free heating and cooling, such as GeoThermal heating (as used in our new Learning & Discovery Greenhouse) and free cooling (which could be implemented with changes to our new fibreglass cooling towers), McMaster fosters a culture of mindful energy consumption, encouraging facility users to turn off appliances when not in use.
Service Requests Learn More
Utilities responds to issues related to heating, cooling, electricity, water or ventilation. For maintenance on any of these issues or others, please submit a service request. Urgent and time-sensitive issues will be prioritized.
