Current campus closures

July 5: Water will be shut down in multiple buildings for emergency repair

Domestic water will be unavailable in Gilmour Hall, Mills Memorial Library, Alvin A. Lee Building, McMaster Museum of Art, McMaster University Student Centre (MUSC), Divinity College, L.R. Wilson Hall, Life Sciences Building and MPS (T34) on Friday, July 5 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to complete an emergency water main repair.

During the repair:

  • The above buildings will remain open, but building washrooms will be out of order.
  • Washrooms will be available in adjacent buildings, including Chester New Hall, Togo Salmon Hall and Kenneth Taylor Hall.
  • Services located in the impacted buildings may need to adjust their operations. Please see below for details.
  • Eyewash stations and showers in the affected buildings will be unavailable. No experiments involving splash hazards or requiring handwashing prior to exiting the lab can run during this time.
  • Fire watch will be in place for the Divinity College, the Life Sciences Building and MDCL.

Employees are advised to contact their supervisors should they have any questions.

MODIFIED OPERATIONS

McMaster University Student Centre: All MUSC Hospitality dining locations will be closed for the day.

Life Sciences Building: There will be no backup cooling for the cold rooms in the building, no makeup fresh water to fish labs and no water to feed the standpipe system for exiting LSB. Chilled water for building cooling will not be impacted.
