Facility Services is celebrating a major achievement as the Student Activity Building (HUB) and Pulse Fitness Centre has been honored with the Award of Excellence for Public Buildings in the 2025 Urban Design and Architecture Awards Program. 

This recognition highlights the outstanding work of the Facility Services Design & Construction team in bringing this project to life. 

The award jury praised the building’s bright and welcoming atrium, flexible interior layout, and strong sense of connectivity.  

One juror remarked on the comfort and inviting atmosphere, noting they could “easily have spent an hour in the space.” The jury agreed that the detailing and integration with the street elevate the student experience at McMaster. 

The HUB and Pulse Fitness Centre has quickly become a cornerstone of student life, combining wellness services, athletics, and social spaces in one vibrant location.
